Hijacked Internet Browser Search

You should always pay attention when installing free software updates, even from companies you trust, because sometimes the software installer includes optional installs you may not want.

Be very careful what you agree to install. Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place.

I recently updated Adobe Flashplayer on my MAC and now find that the default search on Safari and Google Chrome is search.anysearch.net, not Google as a was my previous default. It is a pain to remove it!

According to MalwareTips, “search.anysearch.net is a browser hijacker that is bundled with other free software that you download off of the Internet. When installed. this browser hijacker it will set the homepage and search engine for your web browser to https://search.anysearch.net.” Click here for instructions how to remove it from MAC OS. Under your browser >Preferences > General tab, you can reset your Homepage to whatever url you prefer.
