Hour of Code

from: https://csedweek.org

December 4-10, 2017 is Computer Science Education Week – an event held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Grace Hopper.

Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code”, to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Check out the tutorials and activities. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.

There are  103,707 events registered for Hour of Code 2017, including many schools in the Redding CA area.

In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, Apple Computer has released a new Hour of Code challenge in Swift Playgrounds for iPad. In this new challenge, you’ll use logic and Swift code to build The Incredible Code Machine.
