Order of the Sacred Earth

from: https://www.orderofthesacredearth.org

“The planet doesn’t need another church or religion. What it needs is a new Order… a sacred community and movement” – an Order of the Sacred Earth.

This “deeply spiritual movement, free of religious institutions and grounded in the wisdom traditions of both East and West, in leading-edge science and indigenous tradition… is a radically inclusive Order of mystic activists, uniting our energy and intention in one sacred vow:

I promise to be the best lover and defender of the Earth that I can be.

The new spiritual Order “affirms all spiritual traditions and practices that sustain life and teach us to drink in wisdom from the Earth herself.”

The movement is being launched at a joint ecumenical service (Shepherd of the Hills, ELCA Lutheran Church and Pardes Levavot, Jewish Renewal Congregation) in Boulder, CO on Sunday, October 22, 2017. There will be signing the new, limited released book Order of the Sacred Earth: An Intergenerational Vision of Love and Action – essays and reflections by founders Matthew Fox, Skylar Wilson and Jennifer Listug.

In the forward to the book David Korten writes:

“For nearly a hundred years, our predominant human relationship to living Earth has been that of an invasive species that threatens the life of its host. Healthy living organisms characteristically mobilize to exclude and destroy invasive species. Earth may be doing exactly that as it unleashes hurricanes, droughts, floods, and wildfires…

Earth may now need the positive potentials of human intelligence and agency as much as we need Earth. It needs us, however, as healers and protectors— in stark contrast to our current roles as conquerors and exploiters. Getting it right will be an ultimate test of our human intellectual and psychological competence and agility.”

A larger launch will be on the winter solstice, December 21, 2017.
