The Fuji Declaration

It’s easy to get discouraged by the current, regressive, fear-based, isolationist policies and rhetoric of politicians and reactionary voters, but if we take the long view, people thought the world are still coming together with one global mind to work together for peace, compassion and sustainability. I believe what we are experiencing now are death pangs of a dying political and economic systems based on violence, force, attitudes of greed and “what’s in it for me?” Positive transformation will come slower than we all would  like and it will not come easily in a straight-line trajectory without disruption and pain, but I am hopeful that provincialism and nationalism will ultimately be replaced by a new, more fully human consciousness.

This brief YouTube video is about The Fuji Declaration – “an international alliance of individuals and organizations who are united by a commitment to live and collaborate toward the advancement of a more harmonious. compassionate, sustainable and flourishing world for all humanity.” The Fuji Declaration was initiated by Masami Saionji, Dr. Ervin Laszlo and Hiroo Saionji in 2015.

“Across the globe, an increasing number of us are awakening to the realization that we are fundamentally interconnected. We modern humans are faced with a historic opportunity to consciously co-evolve with one another and with nature through a network of constructive relationships that transcend ethnic, national, and cultural differences.”

The Fuji Declaration is a call to all global citizens to recognize and nurture the full human potential and divine spark within each human spirit to catalyze a timely shift in the course of history.

As individuals responsible for the future of life on Earth, we hereby declare…

  • Affirming the Light of Consciousness Within All Beings – We affirm the divine spark in the heart and mind of every human being and intend to live by its light in every sphere of our existence.
  • Commitment to Creating Lasting Peace on Earth – We commit ourselves to fulfilling our shared mission of creating lasting peace on Earth through our ways of living and acting.
  • Intention to Live and Act on Behalf of all Life – We intend to live and act so as to enhance the quality of life and the well-being of all forms of life on the planet, recognizing that all living things in all their diversity are interconnected and are one.
  • Freeing the Human Spirit for Deep Creativity – We will continually strive to free the human spirit for deep creativity, and to nurture the transformation necessary to forge a new paradigm in all spheres of human activity, including economics, science, medicine, politics, business, education, religion, the arts, communications and the media.
  • Mission to Advance a Harmonious Human Civilization – We shall make it our mission to design, communicate and implement a more spiritual and harmonious civilization—a civilization that enables humankind to realize its inherent potential and advance to the next stage of its material, spiritual, and cultural evolution.

“Through history, humanity’s capacity for self-reflective consciousness has developed progressively—from the magical world of the hunter-gatherer, to the nature-based world of the agrarian farmer, then into the dynamic world of the urban-industrial society, and now into a holistic perspective and collective consciousness rapidly awakening within our global brain. This new consciousness provides the basis for a new, global civilization.

If our lives are nested within the larger aliveness of a living universe, then it is only fitting that we treat everything that exists as alive and worthy of respect. Every action has ethical consequences that reverberate throughout the ecosystem of the living cosmos. Our collective purpose shifts from seeking high-consumption lifestyles toward simpler ways of living that enable us to connect more directly with a living universe of which we are an integral part.

Humanity’s journey of awakening has reached a critical turning point. We now confront the supreme test of living sustainably on the Earth, in harmony with one another, and in communion with the living universe.”
