Mahler’s World

Diego Bustamante

North State Symphony is presenting Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cascade Theatre, Redding CA.

Gustav Mahler once said, “A symphony must be like the world. It must contain everything.” There is certainly no exception with his fifth symphony, which takes us on an emotional roller coaster from tragedy to triumph with an orchestra on the largest of scales.

Also on the program is Diego Bustamente, our Young Artist Competition Winner, who will dazzle us with the soaring melodies and crisp rhythms of the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20, movement 1.

Redding ticket-holders are invited to a pre-concert party in front of the Cascade Theatre on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Dignity Health. No need to RSVP – just come and enjoy delicious snacks, refreshing beverages, and live music before our final concert of the season!

Conductor Scott Seaton will give a free pre-concert talk one hour before the 7:30 p.m. performance.

Tickets are $21-55 for adults; $18-55 for seniors; and $10 for students/children, at the Cascade Theatre Box Office: 530-243-8877.
