Riverfront Playhouse Purchases Building in Downtown Redding

Riverfront Playhouse is coming to downtown Redding CA in 2017 and you can help “pave the way” by purchasing a brick paver for $100 and/or attending a fundraiser prime rib dinner at Vintage Wine Bar and Restaurant at 5:30 p.m. on June 4, 2017; tickets are $65. You can also name a seat for $500-1,000 or donate larger amounts to bring about the next act.

The new theatre building was purchased in December 2016 at 1950 California Street and is currently being remodeled to provide seating for 153 patrons. It will also be available to rent for seminars, meetings, receptions, private events, movies, music, and a variety of performing arts.

The remodeling of the building is being designed by Trilogy Architecture and will include a bar in the lobby, a reception area, storage for costumes and props, dressing rooms, and a service kitchen with warming and refrigeration capability.

In the meantime, enjoy a production of Charley’s Aunt running from May 13, 2017 to June 10, 2017 at its current location at 1620 E. Cypress Ave., Redding.

The story of Charley’s Aunt is set in Oxford, England in the 1890s. Two young men have fallen in love with Amy and Kitty! One young man, Charley, wants his benefactor’s approval. His aunt, whom he’s never met, is coming to visit for lunch. They invite the girls to tea! The aunt cancels, so they rope their friend into playing the aunt! Hilarity ensues!

Tickets are available for Charley’s Aunt at the Cascade Ticket Office or online. Tickets are $20 on Fridays & Saturdays; $15 on Sundays; and $25 on closing night. The ticket price includes two free drinks, with champagne and finger foods being served on the play’s closing night June 10, 2017.
