Rev. Mary Mitchell is conducting a discussion study of Stephen Dinan’s book Sacred America, Sacred World, on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 a.m to noon, starting November 15, 2016 through December 13, 2016, at Center for Spiritual Living, 1905 Hartnell Ave., Redding CA.
The book, published in July, 2016, prior to the Presidential election, is “a manifesto for a “transpartisan” America.” As we have painfully witnessed, our two party system has become violently divisive, nearly to the point where there are two Americas, each at the other’s throat. America is being pulled apart, and every citizen feels the pain from this profoundly. How do we repair the damage and get back on track?
According to leaders of the fast-growing transpartisan movement, “it’s not too late to jump-start our country’s forward progress. Americans can transcend these damaging polarities—but only if we can hold to a vision that honors the ideals of both the left and the right, leaves behind their excesses, and embraces our country’s evolution, both politically and spiritually.”
The book “offers profound hope that America can grow beyond our current challenges and manifest our noblest destiny,” which is rooted in sacred principles that transcend left or right political views – how America can lead the world toward peace, sustainability, health, and prosperity. This vision of the future weaves the best of today’s emergent spirituality with seasoned political wisdom, demonstrating ways America can grow beyond its current stagnation and political gridlock to become a world leader in peace and progress.
