Shasta Symphony Orchestra and Simpson University Music Department presenting From Tragedy to Triumph, on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Shasta College Theater, 11555 Old Oregon Trail, Redding 96003
This is a traditional full-length concert featuring Brahms’ dramatic Tragic Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite. On the second half of the concert, Bryan Hall will be the violin soloist on Philip Glass’s masterful First Violin Concerto, which will appeal to lovers of classical and popular music alike.
The Shasta Symphony Orchestra is a collaboration between Shasta College and Simpson University and is conducted by Dr. Dwayne Corbin, assistant professor of instrumental music at Simpson. It consists of students from both institutions, as well as musicians from within the community. The mission of the Shasta Symphony Orchestra is to help students reach their artistic and educational goals by providing them with a challenging and successful performance experience, and to contribute to the overall enrichment of the arts programs within the Redding community.
