Democracy Popup

Come meet local candidates and learn more about their vision for our area’s future at the Record Searchlight’s and SCAC-TV’s Democracy Popup 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at Old City Hall.

This open house event brings together candidates for local City Council, county supervisors, state Senate and Congressional races, as well as local measures in a fun, interactive and high-energy event.

There will be live music, a kids area, photo booth with presidential candidate cutouts and “hanging chad” voting that allows even kids to cast ballots for their four favorite candidates.

At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., candidates will be invited on stage for a lightning round of questions. The League of Women Voters and members from the Republican and Democratic parties will be registering new voters.

If you are available to volunteer, the organizers are looking for help to set-up, take-down, greet and assist. Two-hour shifts available.
