Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project Update

The public is invited to hear an update presentation by the Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:30) at the Red Lion Hotel Sierra Room in Redding CA.

The report Shasta County Homeless Snapshot, Compilation of Community Data will be discussed. It contains estimated homeless population, including the January 2016 Point In Time survey data, and the estimated local cost of homelessness.

The following panelists will present key findings from the Report, including the status of homelessness in Shasta County and what is currently being done.

  • Donnell Ewert, Director, Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency
  • Melissa Janulewicz, Director of Regional Services, Shasta County Health & Human Services Agency
  • Robert Paoletti, Chief, Redding Police Department
  • Dr. Tyson R. Adams DO, currently Family Medicine Resident at Mercy Family Health Center, family physician at Shasta Community Health Center in Anderson, beginning August 2016
  • Matt Rivas, Director, Guest Services and Operations, Good News Rescue Mission

Additionally, next steps will be discussed, including:

  1. Completion of the Strategic Plan Addressing Homelessness, and implementation activities
  2. Restructuring the Redding/Shasta Continuum of Care, including an improved level of CoC staffing
  3. Design and implementation of an improved data collection system
  4. Design and implementation of a Coordinated Intake System to improve eligibility and referral determinations

The Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project continues making progress to help our community better address homelessness.  The Project began in June 2015 with two Phases. Phase 2 includes the data report “Shasta County Homeless Snapshot” and the Strategic Plan which will be complete this month.
