JEDI

When one speaks of Jedi one is generally referring to the main protagonists in the fictional Star Wars universe – those Jedi fought for peace and justice in the Galactic Republic. However, in Northern California (specifically Siskiyou, Shasta, Trinity and Humboldt Counties) JEDI refers to the Jefferson Economic Development Institute in Mount Shasta.

The mission of JEDI is to increase the economic well-being of people and communities through business development and local wealth creation by training, coaching, financial services, loan services and giving moral support to entrepreneurs. JEDI is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Women’s Business Center at JEDI is offering two Redding CA events for women in June:

  • June 10, 2016 – Women Thrive at Simpson University.
  • June 18, 2016 – It’s Your Etsy Business at West Coast Innovations.

The Women Thrive event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on June 1oth is geared to 80 or so participants and will offer inspiration and skill-building strategies, as well as a networking luncheon. Di Strachan, winner of a Visit California Poppy Award for a San Luis Obispo County tourism program, is guest speaker. A second Women Thrive event is planned for Aug. 2 and will give businesswomen a chance to showcase their products and services. Details are still in the works.
