Want a fun and inexpensive field trip to San Francisco? Shasta College Geography 2B, led by Dan Scollon will visit San Francisco on Friday, April 15, 2016, leaving Shasta College at 7 a.m., returning Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10 p.m.. Overnight accommodations are included in the $80 registration fee.
Learn about the fascinating and complex landscape of one of the world’s great cities. Discover the geographic story of San Francisco and the confluence of factors that have come together to give us this jewel by the Bay. They’ll visit postcard destinations like fisherman’s Wharf and learn about the days when it was a working waterfront. They’ll explore many of the city’s neighborhoods from the Haight to the Castro, getting a flavor of the local color, the make-up of its people, and the issues that are of concern to its residents. Central themes to be explored include housing and transportation and the transformative tech boom.
The 1 unit class includes three evening lecture classes from 6 to 8:50 p.m. on Tuesdays 4/5, 4/12 and.4/19. Students enrolling in this class will need effective computer skills with reliable Internet access.
