Interpersonal Communication Class

A 4-week class on Interpersonal Communication will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m starting February 17 through March 9, 2016,  in the Sanctuary of Unity in Redding, 2871 Churn Creek Road, Redding CA. Dr. Jim Warnemuende, who is facilitating the class, is a university professor, communication consultant, author and Redding resident.

If you would like to improve both your own life and affect the world around you and improve your relationships and your future career success, then make the effort to improve your interpersonal communication skills! You will more likely get what you ask for and help others to tell you what they want so that you can help them feel more satisfied.

Successful interpersonal communication involves three things:

  1. Understanding what others want from you.
  2. Having others understand what you want from them.
  3. Being able to negotiate the differences between what you want and what others want.

Our culture prizes the ability to speak. That emphasis causes problems in day-to-day communication with our spouses, partners, family members, friends and co-workers. When we focus on what we say, we may fail to listen to others or let our perceptions alter what the other intended. When we focus on what we say, we also may be unaware of how our non-verbal behavior affects the meaning of our messages or how the other person perceives our feelings about them.

If you want to read more on the topic, check out Looking Out/Looking In, by Ronald Adler and Russell Proctor, which explains interpersonal concepts through popular music, art, movies, and television.

Come join in this fun, interactive approach to learning practical applications of proven communication tools designed to enhance your relationships with others. Bring a spouse, partner or friend. A love offering appreciated.
