Redding Area Homeless Strategic Planning Workshop

The Continuum of Care is responsible for coordinating the 2016 Point In Time survey of homeless people in Shasta County. This is the official count (for HUD funding purposes) of the people in Shasta County who have identified themselves as having been homeless the night of January 25, 2016.

The COC needs volunteers for several different tasks and times, both Monday and Tuesday next week – please sign up here.  In addition to the time you sign up to count, please remember to sign up for one of the two training sessions. All teams visiting camps or individuals in the field will be led by experienced professionals.

Currently, the Continuum of Care is an unfunded, volunteer organization, temporarily led by Ellen Pfeiffer. This important agency was part of the discussion at a Tuesday, January 19, 2016 meeting at the Redding Library. The Homeless Strategic Planning Workshop, organized by HomeBase, guided participants through a strategic planning process. The goal of this process, over the next 6 months, is to develop a community strategic plan for an ongoing response to homelessness in Shasta County. Attendees engaged in critical problem solving around community needs and barriers, which will serve as the foundation for a community strategic plan.

A second Strategic Planning Workshop group is also meeting from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Click on this link to register to attend. This Workshop is being held at the Park Marina Events Center, 1800 Park Marina Drive, Redding, CA. If you have any questions about the workshops or the Strategic Plan process, please contact Eli Hamilton at eli@homebaseccc.org.

This is a follow-up to a Workshop on Homelessness in Redding that Councilwoman Kristen Schreder organized on December 16, 2015 at the Stirring.
