Mamajowali at Pilgrim

Friday, April 4, 2014, at 8 PM, Joe Craven, Mamadou Sidibe & Walter Strauss (also know as Mamajowali) will appear at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2850 Foothill Blvd., Redding, CA.
Two years ago, Joe Craven wowed an Oaksong Music Society audience with a rare appearance at Bernie’s Guitar with blues phenom David Jacobs-Strain. Tonight,  Friday, April 4, Joe returns with his latest musical project, a fusion of Americana music and African world beat.
Mamajowali features Joe Craven on fiddle, mandolin and percussion (and whatever else he can get his hands on!), Mamadou Sidibe on the kamale ngoni (hunters harp), and calabas, and Walter Strauss on guitar and vocals. Click here to hear a sample.
To hear these three musicians from far flung places collaborate is to take in three souls, listening and greeting one another in a new and unique sound, seamlessly interweaving two continents and three bright musical sensibilities.
The resulting mix is uncommon and familiar, traditional and innovative- all at the same time. This new “Afromericana” project places each of these respected northern California-based artists in a new sound of common ground.
Tickets are $20 , available at The Music Connection, 3086 Bechelli Lane, Redding, CA or at the door.
See you there!
