George Winston at David Marr, March 21, 2014

Umpqua Bank has joined forces with the Foundation for Promoting Arts Education (FPAE) to bring Grammy-Award® winning and multi-platinum selling recording artist George Winston to the David Marr Auditorium, 2200 Eureka Way; Redding, CA 96001, at 7:30 PM on March 21, 2014. Tickets are $29-39, available online from the Cascade Theatre box-office.

This is a benefit concert supporting One Safe Place and the Foundation for Promoting Arts Education. FPAE is a 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to raising funds for arts education and is actively building a sustainable state-of-the-art theater which will serve to educate north state school children and our community in aspects of theater.

George Winston, one of the most recognized solo pianists in the world, has released 13 solo piano albums since 1972. Winston won his first Grammy Award for Best New Age Album, Forests, in 1995. He released his latest solo piano album in 2012, GULF COAST BLUES & IMPRESSIONS 2 – A LOUISIANA WETLANDS BENEFIT. He is currently touring and performing live concerts.

This benefit concert will include some of his best known solo piano pieces, including melodic folk piano, the late Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts soundtrack pieces, New Orleans R&B oriented piano, Doors songs, and stride piano. He has several recordings in the works and will be incorporating some new material from his fall 2013 tour.

Since 1986, George has been raising money for food banks and service organizations and will continue to do so by working with a local food bank in every tour market to hold a CANNED FOOD DRIVE at the show.

At this show Winston will work with One Safe Place. The mission of One Safe Place is to help end domestic violence and sexual assault in Shasta County.

We bank at Umpqua Bank because we appreciate their commitment to support the community of Redding.
