Hot gypsy jazz with an uptown swing and Django-style shredding” will be performed by George Cole and Eurocana tomorrow, Friday, November 15, 2013, at 8 PM at Pilgrim Church, 2850 Foothill Blvd., Redding, CA.

Have gypsy guitar will travel! George Cole last played in Redding to a packed house at Bernie’s Guitar in 2011 and returns this November with his new band, George Cole and Eurocana. Their all acoustic, Gypsy-Jazz and Uptown Swing music will have your ears smiling and your toes tapping! Music lovers of all stripes can expect a one-of-a-kind concert and an unforgettable show on November 15, 2013 with The Oaksong Music Society at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Redding.

Guitarist, vocalist, composer, and lyricist George Cole’s mission to write another chapter to the Great American Songbook. He is a consummate performer, bringing vast experience and enormous talent to each show and every project he is a part of. His band swings with energy and life, delivering all-original music with vocal harmonies and world-class musicianship. Their sound has been called “Eurocana” – a delightful, original, and sumptuous combining of Great American Songbook-style tunes and the Gypsy jazz originated by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Says Lawrence B. Johnson of The Detroit News: “Think of the evergreen songs of George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin heated to a Django Reinhardt swing, and you’ve got the infectious gist of the music of George Cole.” They bring the house down every time!

San Francisco native George Cole’s career has been diverse, to say the least. He’s toured with Joe Walsh, recorded with producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen and Paul McCartney), performed with Warren Zevon, Buster Poindexter, and played guitar and sang duets with jazz legend Keely Smith. He recorded on Chris Isaak’s platinum selling Forever Blue album. He was instructor and mentor to Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day. Garnering rave reviews and standing ovations across the country, George has dazzled audiences at musical landmarks from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. He is also curator and director of the annual Esprit de Django et Stéphane Festival, held each January at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. He is now recording with Grammy award-winning engineer/producer John Cuniberti (Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar) and signed on with David Grisman’s Acoustic Oasis/Acoustic Disc label.

In addition to George’s outstanding compositions, guitar, and vocals, his band includes virtuoso violinist Alisa Rose (until recently, a member the Grammy nominated Quartet San Francisco), French/Argentinean guitarist Mathias Minquet (an exceptionally talented multi-instrumentalist who is a graduate of both The Sorbonne in Paris and Berklee College of Music), and solid, swinging upright bass and vocals from Kaeli Earle.
