Stand Down for Homeless Veterans

Homelessness has many faces, many of them veterans. North Valley veterans will be helped this weekend at Stand Down. Over 320 veterans and family members attended the 2011 Stand Down.  Thanks to over 50 sponsors who provided essential goods, services and funding, along with over 200 volunteers who gave of their time and talent, it was the most successful one yet.

Stand Down refers to a community-based intervention program designed to help the nation’s estimated 200,000 homeless veterans “combat” life on the streets.

The event will take place at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson, CA from October 26-28, 2012. Set up is currently underway and the organizers are looking for security volunteers and sponsors.
