Redding Beer Week

Chico, CA has Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, which is much more than a brewery – it is a community icon for that town; a trend-setter in sustainability; a supporter of Wild Rivers; a popular gathering place at its Taproom and Restaurant; and a 350 seat venue at the Big Room for great entertainment. Wouldn’t it be great if downtown Redding had such a local and tourist attraction!

Well, perhaps the Redding’s first Beer Week, sponsored by Catalyst – Redding Young Professionals, is a first start to generate interest and demand. The event starts Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Redding Civic Auditorium and concludes Sunday, September 30, 2012 with a 5 PM BBQ at the Turtle Bay Quarry Patio.

The Redding Beer Week Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday evening will feature 10+ Northern California breweries and you’ll be able to taste fresh beers from each brewery, enjoy a pub-style dinner, and relish the humorously informative keynote speaker: Professor Charles W. Bamforth, who is the Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences from UC Davis. Buy your tickets online here. Here’s the schedule:

  • 6:00pm: Doors open. Let the beer tasting begin!
  • 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Dinner buffet open
  • 7:30pm: Speaker, Professor Charles W. Bamforth
  • Beer sampling ensues until closing at 10:00 pm
