An email caught my attention this morning because of it’s title. Then I read the subhead “learning the language of new media” and I realized that many who fear going on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the like, just don’t want to be embarrassed by making a faux pas, in what to them is communicating with a brand new language.
Many organizations such as churches could be more connected and more social online, but they just don’t quite know how to do it Social Phonics offers a Social Media Audit – a report on your use of social platforms. They investigate your use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social sites; then they grade your website for social interactivity; finally they see how your sites perform in search engines and mapping services.
Social Phonics is an adventure of friends and co-conspirators, Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt.
Tony Jones is a former pastor and has served as the executive director of two non-profits. He is the author of The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier and is theologian-in-residence at Solomon’s Porch in Minneapolis and an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and at Andover Newton Theological School. He is the author of many books on Christian ministry and spirituality, including and The Sacred Way: Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life, and he is a sought after speaker and consultant in the areas of emerging church, postmodernism, and Christian spirituality.
Doug Pagitt is the pastor of Solomon’s Porch, a holistic, missional, Christian community in South Minneapolis. He’s also the author of many books, including Church in the Inventive Age and AChristianity Worth Believing and he hosts a weekly radio show in the Twin Cities, Doug Pagitt Radio: Religious Radio That’s Not Quite Right. Doug is known as one of the most innovative church leaders of this era, and he is often a speaker at colleges, seminaries, and conferences
